Free Contemporary Art in Montreal

August 3, 2022 (2y ago)

Quitting my startup job last month definitely pushes me to be more mindful of spending money until I figure out what I want to do next.

Whenever I have free time, I remember how much I enjoy visiting museums to take in the beautiful art made available to us.

Every first Sunday of the month, you can visit the MAC for free as long as you can show proof of being a Quebec resident. Keep in mind they moved to Place Ville-Marie this summer, temporarily, which is a good reason to check out the Le Cathcart. Those free museum days can get very busy so brace for it.

If you have more time to plan your museum outing ahead, you can pick up the Borrow a Museum pass instead. The BAnQ lets us borrow a card for up to 3 weeks that provide free access at the following museums: Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, Musée McCord and l’Écomusée du fier monde.

Another place I love very much and is free is the Phi Foundation (previously known as DHC/Art). They are currently hosting the beautiful exhibition of Yayoi Kusama which I was lucky to experience in Los Angeles in May.

Enjoy!
